How do the resource teachers support my child?

Some of the responsibilities of a resource teacher include:

  • observing students interact in various instructional environments in order to help identify appropriate intervention strategies, barriers to intervention, and assist in data collection
  • working collaboratively with other professionals and families in planning programs to meet the needs of the learners
  • consulting with teachers to develop adaptations and plan for instruction
  • monitoring progress of identified students
  • co-teaching
  • providing small group or one-to-one (when necessary) support to navigate assistive technology, use self-management skills, and remediate particular skill deficits
